Great Grandma's Apple Cake

For the Cake -

  • 2c sugar
  • 1/2c veg oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 4c diced apples (I use granny smiths but any should work)
  • 1c chopped any nuts (I use walnuts)
  • 2c flour
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp nutmeg
  • 2tsp cinnamon
  • 2tsp baking soda

Cream sugar, oil & eggs (low speed) for 2 minutes. Add apples. Add dry ingredients. Stir in nuts. Put in greased 13 x 9 pan at 350* for 45 minutes.

For the Cooked icing -

  • 1/2c butter
  • 1c sugar
  • 1/2c evaperated milk
  • 1Tbsp vanilla
  • Dash nutmeg

Heat butter, sugar & evap milk together very slowly. Cook for 10 - 15 min, stir, Do NOT Let Boil! Cook till slightly thickened. Add vanilla & nutmeg. Serve hot on cake.
