Can I use half-and-half cream to make the clam sauce from this recipe more rich and creamy?

Just a real quick question for dinner with a special girl.

I'm looking to add 1.5 - 2 cups of half-and-half cream around the part where you add the butter, near the end after the second batch of clams have been boiled and cooked. Would this work well? Would I have to leave the butter out?

I would experiment for myself, but I'm on quite the budget as a college student...
