Lately I've been craving onigiri and want to make my own. Back when I used to do this, was with a friend who lived next to a tiny grocery store that specialized in Asian ingredients. Because of my new diet I want to make it with Brown Rice instead. Is this possible to do??
A bit of info, I usually get my groceries from my local Shoprite because it is super close to my house. So is there a particular Brown rice that is better for this, if possible at all? Or can I use any kind?
P.S Is there any kind of salmon slices I can put in it that is sold in Shoprite? At the Asian grocery store my friend would go to, they sold these thin slices of Salmon meat in a packet. Kind of like how you would get sliced ham for a school lunch. It made the onigiri taste so much more flavorful. You wouldn't need to cook it, just stuff a bit of the Salmon in the center of the ball before covering it. Is there any recommendations for this? Or is it even possible to find this in a Shoprite?
