Hello needed with dessert made of flour, sugar, and butter

My grandma used to prepare this Oriental dessert I loved as a kid. She I've have me the recipe but after many attempts I get the taste but still cannot reproduce the texture of what she was doing.

What she told me: - melt a full tablet of butter in a saucepan - add 8 spoons of flour - add 8 spoons of sugar

Then she was heating the whole thing until it took this golden honey-like color. The mix was somewhat liquid but not liquid per se. Then she would put it in the fridge and it would solidify.

When I do it is either granular or too liquid. Any suggestion or actual recipe?
