Marinating meat before adding to slow cooker?

I'm recovering from surgery and unable to leave the house, so obviously my mind is hard at work devising projects for when I'm on my feet again. There's a recipe for soup tinkering about in my brain, and I was wondering if there's any benefit to marinating meat before slow cooking it? I know slow cooking also allows the meat to absorb massive amounts of flavor, so would marinating be redundant?
