Ingredient(serving one person) half cup of rice(preferably short grain but its ok to use other rice) 1.5 tbsp of Sesame oil Half stick of Celery, chopped 1/4 cup of chopped of onion and carrot 1/4 cup of chopped mushroom(shitake/portobello/common white) 1 tsp of ground garlic. salt, pepper Some green onion Soy sauce
Optional: 1/3 cup of ground beef.
Hint: If you don't have time or are just lazy like me; you can just use cooked rice.
-
In a medium stew pot, heat sesame oil in medium heat. Sautee onion, carrot, garlic, celery, and mushroom. Put beef as well if you have some. Add some salt and pepper.
-
When the veggies(and bee) are tender enough, add your rice. Toast it for 2~3 minutes. Since this is not a risotto, it doesn't really matter a lot if you accidentally brown your rice a bit.
-
Pour in water, and stir consistently so that it doesn't overflow while boiling in medium heat. Keep adding water until the rice is completely gruel-like. If you put cooked rice, it's going to take only 5 minutes. If you put raw rice, it will take 20 minutes.
-
Add some soy sauce to your taste, and chop some green onion on top to garnish.
bon appetit
