So my dad is turning 65 this March and I want to surprise him by finding and perfecting a recipe for old fashioned crullers like he used to get growing up in Yonkers. These are NOT French choux pastry; they are cakey bars of fried perfection served plain or smothered in powdered sugar. Dunkin Donuts actually used to make a pretty good one when I was a kid but they were discontinued like 15 years ago.
I’ve found a few bake shops that still serve them but can’t find a tried and true recipe online anywhere. If anyone has a family recipe or a lead on cookbooks/blogs/articles to look into, I would appreciate it!
