When you're set on chicken with harissa chickpeas but don't have any harissa...

I checked the fridge. We got gochujang. Harissa is basically just various peppers mixed with olive oil, spices, and maybe some garlic. So let's see how gochujang, olive oil, and cumin taste...

It's pretty good...

We cooking boys.

Edit: Oh my God it's good.

The original recipe:

I subbed cilantro for Italian parsley; instead of harissa I went with 1/4 cupish of gochujang and a few tablespoons of olive oil with a couple healthy dashes of cumin. When it went into the oven I gave the whole dish a few extra glugs of olive oil to even out the flavor profile (at least that's what I told myself)

Served over bulghar with a little cumin and salt added. It was incredibly good.

bon appetit
