Stir-Fried Beef and Vegetables

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of thin sliced strips of sirloin (have also used thin slices of skirt steak)
  • 1 green bell pepper, julienned
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1/2 lb. broccoli cut up, removed from stocks
  • 2 garlic cloves, sliced
  • 1 1/2 carrots, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon peanut or vegetable oil

Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sweet hot chili sauce. I used this one
  • 1/2 tsp corn starch
  • 2 table spoons hot water

Cooking

  1. cut up and prepare ingredients to listed presentation. combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl. (take the hot water and add it to the cornstarch in a small ramekin and stir until milky and add to the sauce.) in a wok or heavy frying pan, add in the peanut or vegetable oil on high heat.
  2. once bits of smoke start to become present, add in the carrots and onions. and stir and mix and toss on high heat for a minute or two. add in the beef, broccoli, and bell pepper and continue to stir and toss for another two to three minutes.
  3. add in the sauce and garlic and stir and toss well for another three to five minutes. remove from heat and serve. serves well with white rice or chow mein noodles.
