I’m going to cook chicken for the first time next week and I have a couple questions. I grew up in a whole vegetarian family and in the last couple of years I’ve really grown to know my taste in chicken (crunchy and breaded or seared at best) but have never cooked before. If anyone could answer them I’d be really grateful!

How do I thaw chicken? My roommate told me that leaving it out in the morning should thaw it out by dinner time. I read elsewhere that you can just run it under hot water and it should be fine in thirty minutes. What’s the right way to do this? Do I soak it?

I plan on washing the chicken and I’ve heard patting it dry helps with marinades after. My best friend’s aunt has this wonderful chicken marinade that I want to try (curry powder and Greek yoghurt) and I plan on using the proportions she specified and then letting it marinate overnight. Is this a good idea? Bad idea? Okay idea?

How exactly do I cook the chicken? I really like my chicken seared and have read up a little but with yogurt marinades apparently there’s a problem with curdling in the pan? Is this true? How do I avoid it? I read the first recipe under this post and it seems cool. Would it work?
I have thinly sliced chicken breasts because my friend recommended them. He said that there’s no way I can undercook those and I hope he’s right!!
Thank you in advance! Will update with pictures once I figure out how exactly to do this haha.
bon appetit
