Hello, I am looking for a recipe for a vegetable soup, since it is getting cold where I live, that our only vegan in the group can eat. When I make a soup I usually throw in different kind of potatoes, cassava, carrots and lentils. I usually go for cured meats in order to add more salt, flavour and a bit of fat (I used to add a bit of olive oil), so that it can be more "filling" - the soup will be the main dish, so people must get "Full" with it. In my past recipes, using only vegetables without meats or olive oil made it quite bland and unsatisfactory, as if something was missing from it.
My biggest problem is that I'm not good at measuring how much salt a dish needs, and I either go too little or too much. We have plenty of spices at home, from zattar to mustard seeds, and we have no restrictions. I have no idea what combination would go well with a vegetable soup.
