Is it too late to make eggnog for Christmas? I love eggnog (the store-bought stuff is what introduced me to it) and want to try making it myself. But there is a lot of information to process. Help, please!

because everything I've made from these guys has worked out before. But then I read something about it killing the flavor if cooked? Can someone help me with all the possible methods of making eggnog? Spiked Vs. Non-Alcoholic? My younger brother would like to try some. My dad doesn't drink. Can I just put a shot of Bourbon in my personal serving? Thank you.

EDIT: I asked about the " too late " part because some of the things I read online said something about how eggnog needs to be left in the fridge for some time. from 6 months- 1 year in some situations?
