Gerber no longer makes plum baby food with tapioca. My deceased mother's delicious and simple recipe has become a nightmare trying to find a replacement for this baby food. Anyone have any ideas? I'm desperate to recreate this, as it was a childhood favorite.
There was a seller on eBay selling a 12 pack of small jarred dried plum baby food by Gerber, made in Poland. I ordered that, but don't plan on using it til November. I do not know if this will give the same consistency. Perhaps I should add tapioca? Please send help.
Plum Bread - (yield 2 loaves)
- item 1 1 large jar Gerber's plum baby food with tapioca
- item 2 1 (1oz) bottle red cake coloring
- item 3 1 cup vegetable oil
- item 4 2 c flour
- item 5 2 c sugar
- item 6 3 eggs
- item 7 2/3 tsp baking soda
- item 8 1 tsp cinnamon
- item 9 1/4 tsp salt
- item 10 1 tsp cloves
- Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Pour into lightly oiled loaf pans.
- Bake at 325 for 1 hour.
