Cooking Tip: Baking plain plantains is a healthier way to cook them than frying. Just lightly coat with cooking oil, place in a baking pan and bake for about 15 minutes, or until soft.
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
Ingredients
4 to 5 large Plantains
2 tsp (10 mL) Cinnamon
1/2 tsp (2 mL) Nutmeg
Pinch Salt
1/4 cup (60 mL) Brown sugar
2 Tbsp (30 mL) Cooking Oil
Instructions
- Slice plantains in to 1-inch pieces
- Mix cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and brown sugar together in small bowl; blend well
- Toss plantains cooking oil and spices until well coated
- Place plantains on greased baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes of until plantains are soft and golden
