Cheese Bureks – Turkish fabulous recipe

For those who do not know the bureks are crispy savory pastries that can carry various types of filling. They consumed as an appetizer and snack between meals in many countries in the Middle East. I am in love with them because they are very simple to prepare.

Ingredientes:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry chilled or frozen
  • 3.5 oz (100g) of ricotta cheese or cottage cheese
  • 3.5 oz (100g) of feta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. If you use frozen puff pastry, I thaw according to package directions and stretch it on baking paper. If you use fresh pastry, stretch it on the baking paper.

  2. Prepare the filling by mixing crumbled feta cheese by hand or with a fork and add ricotta.

  3. Cut puff pastry squares about 10 × 10 cm or size you prefer.

  4. Beat the egg and brush both sides of a corner with it.

  5. Put a tsp of filling in the center of the squares and seal the dough so that the corner with egg falls on the one with eggless.

  6. Press with your fingers on each side and then with a fork to prevent the filling scapes. Separate them about 3 cm apart on the baking sheet to bake and grow so they do not stick to one another.

  7. Paint the Bureks with the remaining egg and sprinkle over the seeds you desire.

  8. Refrigerate about 15-20 minutes until they are firm and the pastry is crisp but not greasy.

  9. Preheat oven to 428°F or 220°C.

  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until you see browned on top.

  11. Cool slightly on a wire rack, but serve hot.
