So as I was growing up, my family would always go to a Dutch/Amish restaurant that had amaaaazing meatloaf with gravy. I moved away a few years back and just recently learned the restaurant closed two years ago. I haven’t been able to find a recipe similar to what they used to make :(
There wasn’t any ketchup involved, or even any tomato flavor at all, the meatloaf also came out a bit more.. Light tan than most? Like the color tint reminded me a bit of wheat thin crackers. The flavor of ground beef was still the same though, so I imagine the base was likely the usual ground beef with breadcrumbs/crackers. The gravy was just a basic beef gravy, so no need to worry about that. But the meatloaf itself was the best I’ve ever had, so I’m wondering if anyone out there can point me in the right direction? I’ve looked up a few Amish recipes but nothing looks or sounds quite right so far.
