Beer Flavored Cotton Candy

So, having found myself with a cotton candy machine that advertises being able to turn any hard candy into cotton candy, and having come across these beer flavored candies at some point in my adventures, the combination is pretty obvious.

I wouldn't say this tasted particularly good, but interesting enough. The problem is, it's way too sweet. I'm planning to try again, using an isomalt base, and hopefully that will reduce the sweetness enough to be palatable.

If you wanna see the photos and video, check this out.

Ingredients

  • 5-6 beer flavored hard candies.
  • 1 hard candy cotton candy machine

Directions

  1. I found this Nostalgia Hard Candy cotton candy maker on Amazon. Just plug it in and turn it on. Let it run for 10 minutes to warm up. You can make cotton candy out of most hard candies.
  2. Crush your candies up. I used these hopdrops beer flavored candies. They're basically just sugar, flavored with hop extract. I'm sure you can get similar results by flavoring regular granulated sugar with some hop extract or malt extract.
  3. Turn off the machine, then add the crushed candy to the the little center basin.
  4. Turn it back on and wait for the sugar webs to form. Collect it with a chopstick or some kinda cone.

bon appetit
