Use Lovage. My sister in law is deathly allergic to onions an all there like. I'm making stuffing for Thanksgiving and I stumbled across some dried Lovage leaves a old German lady gave me from her garden.
I tried them and it was like bitting into a soup mix it had all the savory flavors I've been missing.
Also celery seed is the actually Lovage and carry the same flavor.
