Six classic sandwiches, in handy-dandy instructional diagrams

I just spent four weeks in the hospital, unable to eat anything worth eating, and all I wanted was a good sandwich -- so I illustrated and charted out a few favorites, something to look forward to.

The sinful grilled cheese final boss that is the Croque Madame

The meaty gooey smorgasbord posing as a midnight snack that is the Cubano

The french toast kitchen sink triple decker that is the Monte Cristo

The classical deli Old Ironsides without comparison that is the Reuben

The regional treasure / national hero that is the Philly Cheesesteak

The decadent dessert-for-the-realistic, lunch-for-the-brave that is the Fried PB&J

bon appetit
