In the U.S., it's the hottest month of the year, and we're stuck at home, bored and whining for treats. But soon my new ice cream freezer arrives!
I'm particularly interested in healthier recipes. But anyone with a great recipe for ice cream, frozen yogurt, ice milk, gelato, sorbet, or frozen custard please share it in comments. Thanks so much!
I'll start with my own Easy Honey Vanilla:
- Mix well: 1 quart of half-and-half with a generous 1/2 cup of honey, a pinch of salt, and 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract. (If your freezer uses salt and ice, omit the salt.)
- Churn in an ice cream freezer of your choice.
- Depending upon your ice cream maker, this recipe may need to be hardened in a freezer for two more hours.
It's delicious but high in fat. Who can help me out with a less fattening alternative?
