Magnificently Moist Chocolate Cake

  • Cake Recipe
  • Dry Ingredients
  • 2 C Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tsp Baking Soda
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2/3 C Cocoa
  • Wet Ingredients
  • 1 C Milk
  • ½ C Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2 C Sugar
  • 1 C Hot Coffee
  • Buttercream Recipe
  • 12 oz. Unsalted Butter
  • 8 oz. Margarine
  • 2 tsp Vanilla
  • 4 C Powdered Sugar
  • Cake
  • Combine wet ingredients,EXCEPT the coffee, in large bowl and mix.
  • Combine dry ingredients into medium bowl.
  • Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and combine. Once thoroughly mixed add second half of dry ingredients.
  • Once all the ingredients have been combined add one cup of hot coffee. Stir with spatula. The batter will be very thin.
  • Grease two 9” round pans with cooking spray and dust with flour for easy release.
  • Distribute batter evenly between the two pans.
  • Bake at 350° for 22-25 minutes.
  • Buttercream Icing
  • Using a mixer, cream together room temperature butter, margarine, and vanilla
  • Mix in powdered sugar one cup at a time
  • Mix on medium high until icing is white and fluffy (about 2 to 4 minutes)
  • For best results make icing the day before. Letting the icing sit overnight, it gets light and airy. Fluff with spatula before using.
