The short version
I love store-bought cajun mix, and would love a recipe to play with, but they seem impossible to find!
The long version
When I search google images (and store shelves where I live) "Cajun mix" refers to some combination of nuts (penuts, almonds, cashews), candied nuts, sesame sticks, corn sticks, cheesies, etc. seasoned with spices that make it salty, sweet, and a tiny bit hot, all at the same time.
They look something like this:
Sadly, when I search for Cajun Mix RECIPES, all I find is a very different snack mix (that I know as "nuts & bolts" or "bits & bites"), usually consisting of chex/shreddies, pretzels, and seasoned with butter, garlic/onion, and some seasoning salt or hot sauce.
Side note
Oddly, even google images shows this confusion.
- Search for "Cajun snack mix" shows what I want: http://ift.tt/1Nou7uT
- Search for "Cajun snack mix recipe" shows mostly "nuts & bolts", and clicking the few images of what I actually want leads to products for sale, not recipes: http://ift.tt/1Nou5TS
So, what I'm really after is a recipe that produces the store-bought style of "cajun snack mix". Specially, the seasoning (putting the nuts & bolts seasoning on cajun mix "materials" does not produce cajun mix.)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
bon appetit
