Home Made Butter

Ingredients/Equipment:

  1. 1 pint heavy whipping cream

  2. Large bowl of ice water

  3. Stand mixer with wire whisk attachment

Directions:

  1. Pour heavy cream in mixing bowl.

  2. Gradually increase speed to medium.

  3. Mix until cream breaks. It will make a sloshing sound. (This takes around 5-10 mins of mixing)

  4. Pour off butter milk into separate container. (Yummy stuff there. Don't throw it away)

  5. Press butter mixture with spoon or spatula and run ice water over it until the water runs clear. Voila! Butter.

I have to admit, I thought this was going to be way more challenging than it was or that the butter wasn't going to taste as amazing as the high-end, store bought stuff. Not only was this super easy and tasted just as good, if not better, than the high-end butter, but it's cheaper. I honestly don't know if I will ever buy butter again.

bon appetit
