[Recipe Request] Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Hello all,

The other day I attempted to make mashed (soft) sweet potatoes. I used the same method I use for normal mashed potatoes; boil them in water. These did not come out sweet at all (I'm wondering if this was just a fluke?), and kind of mushy.

I was in the Navy, and the Navy has a lot of people from the South in it, so we got fed a lot of Southern food. My personal favorite side was mashed red (soft) sweet potatoes. They were sweet, somewhat firm with just the right amount of fluff. How can I make mashed potatoes like this? I miss them sooooo much! Thank you in advance :)
