Venison Roast?

Hey guys, I have a quick question. Family is coming down and they're bringing a piece of deer meat that they said is labelled "rump" and is about 4 lbs. I know nothing of deer meat and I am looking for suggestions on how to properly cook it? Nothing too fancy please, and if you can put a southern 'twist' on it that'd be even better! From what I've researched I've seen making it like a steak or using a crock pot, though I'm not sure what is best. TIA
