Asian clam chowder idea

I saw a carton of thai ginger broth the other day, and I thought "that'd be good with some clam soup!"

I thought of something like chowder. So I started building the recipe in my head:

May or may not use salt pork. I could use bacon, but somehow it doesn't seem asian. Maybe just veg oil or coconut oil would do.

Leeks, celery, and a little carrot to sweat, with chili and ginger for heat.

Then I use a carton of broth, and a can of coconut milk. I season with fish sauce.

I add the clams, and finish with a fragrant herb: basil or cilantro.

Help me build this idea, /r/recipes!

bon appetit
