Saturday Morning Cinnamon Rolls

There are some Saturday mornings that I feel deserve a celebration, and these cinnamon rolls are my go-to celebratory food. If it's mine or my husband's birthday, if we have family in town, or if we just made it through a long week that deserves reward, then you can bet I'll be whipping up a batch of these goodies.

That being said, you certainly don't have to wait for a special occasion to make Saturday Morning Cinnamon Rolls. In fact, you don't even have to wait for Saturday morning.

Now, I break this recipe down into a two-day process. You could probably do it all in one day, but I suggest you make things easier for yourself and take the two days as I've suggested.

Finally, I've only included the recipe for the dough here. To get the full recipe and to see pictures, follow this link: http://ift.tt/20prNYz

Cinnamon Roll Dough

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 2 tsp yeast

  • 2 tbs sugar

  • 4 tbs butter

  • 3 cups flour

Directions:

  1. Combine the warm water and the milk in the bowl of a standing mixer or a regular bowl if you don't have a standing mixer.

  2. Sprinkle the yeast on top of the liquid mixture. Then sprinkle the sugar on top of the yeast.

  3. Melt the butter and add it to the mixture.

  4. Begin stirring in the flour one cup at a time. Once the flour is fully incorporated into the wet mixture, turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it for 5-7 minutes (or until the dough is soft like play-dough).

  5. Lightly flour the bottom of a pie pan.

  6. Knead your dough into a ball, and place the ball of dough in the pie pan.

  7. Sprinkle the dough ball with flour, and then cover the top tightly in plastic wrap.

  8. Let the dough chill in the fridge overnight.

bon appetit
