I'm making risotto for the first time. What should I serve with it and how do I avoid messing it up?

My fiance loves risotto so I'm trying to surprise him with a mushroom risotto for dinner. I'm mostly following this recipe but I'm using this one for extra info. I've never made risotto before and I've been told that the secret is to just constantly stir... and stir and stir. Is there anything else I should know going in? Any tips you can throw my way?
