Hello foodies. I need some help on what I can do to make a dish I like better. I like to make this peanut butter cabbage stir fry in a big ol' wok because it's cheap and tasty. I'm a poor college student so certain ingredients might be hard to come by but please go ahead and list anything that may be 'worth' it and I'll see if I can get a hold of them.
So there's really not much but the ingredients are:
-
green cabbage (usually go with half to 3/4)
-
a white onion (half)
-
and eggs I stir fry to the texture I like it at and make my sauce.
The sauce is:
-
100% natural peanut butter (with whole peanuts inside)
-
soy sauce
-
vinegar
-
ground black pepper
-
mustard seeds
-
chili paste (sometimes I use the black bean chili paste called doubangiang, or left over P.F. chang's chili paste, or Sambal chili paste)
-
and minced garlic.
I am sure some scallions would go really well instead or with, the white onion. I once put some mushrooms in it and it worked out okay. Regarding meat, I'd say the most I'd want to do is put chicken but I'd prefer different veges. (I do not eat anything with pork or pork-related products). Any good ways to bring out the flavor or certain asian sauces to try? Again, money is a factor but perhaps I'll splurge if I get into something--at least one time. I haven't tried any noodles because, well, I just haven't tried them yet! I was thinking some regular ol' spaghetti noodles or flat noodles.
Please let me know what you would do to improve the recipe as I am a complete amateur and have yet to improve my craft. Thanks!
