Orange Chicken Recipe

The key to any meal, wether its breakfast, lunch, or dinner is the prep. Have all your ingredients ready to go.

Ingredients:

  • 1 LB chicken breast cut into bite size cubes
  • 1/2 tablespoon of chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon of chopped ginger
  • 2 teaspoons of orange zest
  • 4 dried red chile cut into half remove seeds
  • 2.5 cups of corn oil to fry

Breading For the Chicken

  • 3/4 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 2 eggs

Orange Chicken Sauce:

  • 1.5 cups of orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon chinese rice wine
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame seed oil
  • 2.5 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of seasoned rice vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 teaspoon of cold water

  • The egg wash is a key part of making orange chicken. Egg wash is used to bind the flour mixture onto the bite size chicken pieces. The Egg wash also add a flavor component to the chicken.

  • Another binding agent is the cornstarch mixed with flour. Along with the salt and crushed pepper corns makes a delicious breading for the chicken.

  • The breading mixture is also great on large pieces of chicken or beef. Fried it taste great.

  • Slicing your chicken breast into uniform bite size pieces allows them to fry evenly.

  • Notice the size of the sliced pieces.

  • Using fresh corn oil also gives clean taste.

  • While your chicken is frying steam cook your broccoli for a 5

  • Shock cooling your broccoli after steam cooking, stops the broccoli from cooking and maintains the broccoli green color and crunch texture

  • When chicken is golden brown it is done.
