Lemon meringue pie issues

I tried making a lemon meringue pie for the first time last night. The crust and the meringue came out well, but the filling was pretty much a liquid the next day when I went to cut it. Assuming I had all the correct ingredients in the correct amounts, I would guess it has to do with my prep somehow. Does anyone have any idea what I might have done wrong?
