So this is an odd situation. My Nona (Italian grandmother) used to make a soup she always called Fazzoi (not sure of the spelling). Now this isn't the same as pasta e fazzoi (not sure how to spell that either, sorry)
She died 3 years ago. During one of my visits to her before she passed and while she was lucid, I managed to get out of her the main ingredients.
Romano beans, potatoes, onion, garlic, celery, carrot and can crushed tomatoes.
I made it once for her, or tried to, but although it kind of tasted like it, just wasn't the same. She wasn't lucid when she tried it, and I never got the last of the ingredients or method before she passed.
I'm wondering whether anyone has ever heard of this soup or something like it that might be able to fill in some blanks? I'm sorry it's so vague. I really regret not making it with her when I was younger. I was only ever just sitting in the kitchen chatting to her while she was making it.
Thank you for any help. If it matters, she was from Friuli, in the more northern part of Italy
bon appetit
