Replicating restaurant quality dipping Ranch

I spent like 10 days doing a taste test challenge so I felt like sharing my findings after all that work. After trying every recipe I could find, testing packets vs no packets etc. I really wanted to find out how to make it just right but could never seem to nail it. What I realized was that making the mayo from scratch was the key, and simplifying it as much as possible after that. This was the final recipe I came out with to make the most basic/simple dipping ranch that can be built on.

Ingredients (for Mayo)

1 Cup Canola Oil 1/2 Teaspoon Dry Mustard 1/2 Teaspoon Sugar 1/2 Teaspoon Salt 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice 1 Egg Yolk

Ingredients (for Ranch)

1 Cup Mayonnaise (home made) 1/4 Cup Buttermilk 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder 1/4 Teaspoon Onion Powder 1 Tablespoon finely chopped Parsley 1 Tablespoon finely chopped Chives

It may seem kind of stupid because of how simple it seems but I spent alot of time looking at online recipes and none of them really put the pieces all together, regardless of how basic those pieces are. Hope someone tries this so I can get some input. If you'd like a bunch of pics and a walkthrough, check out my rookie blog

bon appetit
