Individual Apple Crumbles

Individual Cast Iron Skillet Apple Crumbles

Yields 4

An easy to prepare, gluten free, reduced fat and sugar recipe for a comforting individual apple crisps

Prep Time:30 min Total Time:1 hr

Ingredients

  • 4 apples, I used Golden Delicious but I might mix some Macintosh with the Golden Delicious next time
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg

For the Crumble

  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 4 TB brown sugar
  • 6 TB oat flour (or regular flour if o.k. with the gluten)
  • 5 TB butter, cut into small pieces
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350'
  • Cut and peel apples into small pieces and toss with the cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Combine oats, brown sugar, oat flour and salt. Using your fingers, massage the butter into your oat mixture
  • Divide the chopped apples among your 4 skillets or ramekins
  • Sprinkle topping equally over the 4 skillets
  • Bake at 35-45 minutes or until apples are soft and topping is brown.
