If you have 20 minutes, you can enjoy this creamed spinach as a side at your next meal.
Ingredients:
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 medium onion, minced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 16 ounces spinach
- 1 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoons ground pepper
Directions:
- In a large pot over medium heat, begin to melt the butter.
- Sauté the onion and garlic for 1 minute.
- Add the flour, nutmeg, and half of the milk (3/4 cup), whisk until combined.
- Pour in the remaining milk (3/4 cup) and whisk all ingredients together.
- Toss in spinach and cover pot with lid and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle in the salt and black pepper.
- Continue to cover and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
