I'm relatively new to cooking (only really been putting in effort the past 2-3 months), but I was experimenting and found this came out really good.
I used the following as a base recipe:
After adding the flour, I minced 3 habanero peppers and 4 cloves of garlic and added them. Probably should've gone with more garlic, but I've yet to eat a dish I thought had too much garlic.
I left out the nutmeg (this was likely a mistake as I'm told it's really good in cream soups) and carrot. I also skipped blending the soup, but did break up the broccoli into smaller pieces with a spatula after they softened up.
I substituted a cup of cheddar for jalapeno pepperjack for a total of 1 cup pepperjack, 1.5 cups sharp cheddar.
I generally enjoy spicy food like hot wings. Overall, it added a nice level of heat. It wasn't overwhelming, and lasted a decent bit of time before fading. Next time I make it, I'll probably use another habanero, maybe a second, but for my first attempt I wanted to be conservative to avoid overdoing it.
Comments/Criticism welcome and appreciated.
bon appetit
