Seasoning meat on plate vs paper towel, does it matter?

I use a paper towel to dry my meat off before I cook it, so I've just been placing a clean paper towel underneath it. Just had a thought that maybe this is bad and is sucking the moisture of meat? Should I be using a plate instead or does it not matter? My meat hasn't been dry, this is just a random thought I had
