Stone Age Bread

See here for pictures

So this recipe stemmed from my Christmas holiday in Denmark. I learnt it there and I can safely say I prefer it to ‘flour’ bread. I am a huge fan of rye bread, the scandinavian dark traditional rye, but this is something else. I can’t really explain it, it’s like eating a nutty, crunchy soft cracker that you can toast and put avocado on. It’s actually called ‘Stone age bread’, and you can certainly see why. All it contains is seeds, eggs and oil. I was doing some internet snooping and it seems it’s also bee called ‘Nordic Nut bread’, I think stone age sounds better. It makes me think of those gigantic stone ovens and scandinavian bakers with white aprons. Where that image comes from I do not know.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500G SEEDS
  • 5 EGGS
  • 1 DL OIL (100 ML)
  • TSP SALT

All you need to do is whip up the eggs until they’re nice and frothy, slowly add in the oil and mix thoroughly, then add the rest! (Stop with the complicated recipes..)

Also, this is so versatile because you can out anything in it that you have in your cupboard really. Nuts, cacao you name it. Here I was using a mixture of sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and sunflower seeds. It’s such a healthy recipe, as there really isn’t much in it at all. Honestly you’ll make this again and again.

bon appetit
