Tonight I am making bacon wrapped dates for the first time. I have had two variations - dates wrapped in bacon (baked) and dates stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon (deep fried). Tonight, I would like to make an assortment of options for a small gathering and see which ones we all prefer. I won’t be deep frying any of them because I’ll have limited time and would rather just pop them in the oven – maybe another time. I have a few questions, though. Below are the variations that I will be preparing and the questions I have. Help??
Variations
-
Stuffed with cream cheese
-
Stuffed with feta cheese
-
Stuffed with cream cheese and almond
-

-
Plain, spicy glaze
Questions
-
What temp/time should I bake these? I’ve seen different recipes differ quite a bit and I’m conflicted.
-
I’m planning on making the glaze with olive oil, vinegar, brown sugar, and Sriracha. Is this a decent mixture, or do any of you have other suggestions?
-
When during the cooking process should I apply the glaze?
-
Is there anything I am missing or do any of you have tips or suggestions?
I realize that these are just bacon wrapped dates, but these things are like crack to me and I’m really excited to make them! Thanks in advance for your help, Redditors!
