My dad was born in the early 1940's and has recently been looking for molasses cookies that are like ones he had as a child. He's never been a huge fan of ginger, and most store bought cookies are more gingerbread or gingersnap tasting. Does anyone have suggestions for an old fashioned molasses cookie that a 1940's mother might have made? Will leaving out the ginger or halving the amount take away from more modern recipes or do you think it would be ok? Thanks for any input - I'd like to make a batch to take home for Christmas this year!
