Sesame Orange Chicken

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 1 lb. boneless thighs, cut up into pieces
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. white pepper
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds, roasted.

Sauce

  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp. rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 oranges, juiced
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tsp water
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp honey
  • (optional, I like to add dried chili pepper flakes to the sauce)

Cooking

  1. combine sauce ingredients in a bowl, mix well. set a side. coat chicken pieces in the flour mix and fry in the oil in a large high sided frying pan, cast iron skillet or a wok, until chicken is golden brown.
  2. take combined sauce ingredients and pour it into a wok. cook sauce in a wok on high heat for a few seconds. once sauce starts to bubble a bit, add in the chicken and mix and toss in the sauce for a minute or two. before serving, roll the chicken in toasted sesame seeds.
